101 DFN- Phase 4… The Summit Push!

Our final phase of the first Thrive Outdoors “101 Days From Now…” Lifestyle Challenge is here!  Phase 3 was a bit difficult for me.  A few trips for work and preparation for a deployment have taken priority over some of my goals.  The opportunity to have food and drinks with my friends and family has been more enticing than keeping my routine at the climbing gym…  Still, I am in a better place than I was when the challenge began.  Surely, you are too.

This is a perfect time to pull out your goal worksheets and evaluate how far you have come.  You should also consider your final goals for the challenge.  Has your mindset changed since Continue reading 101 DFN- Phase 4… The Summit Push!

Most of the thought we put into our goal setting involved things that will do, or will add to our daily routines.  To achieve some goals, though, the things that you remove from your life are what will really make a difference.  John is here with his first guest post to explain his experience in giving things up during the 101 Days From Now Challenge. Erica is here as our first 101 DFN featured writer to share some great ideas to guide your nutrition goals.

So here we are, charging into Phase II.  Our goals are in mind, our routines are being put into motion, & most of us will be hitting up the grocery store in a health minded fury.  For some the first weeks are the easiest because we start with the best of intentions.  For others it’s the hardest because we just don’t know where to start!

#1.  Clean out & Organize:

Seems daunting, but it’s super easy & worth it!  Take 15 minutes to open your fridge & pantry.  Take a good look & clean out everything outdated or spoiled, consolidate things you have 2 or more of, & take out anything that will tempt you from keeping your goals.  i.e.: The stockpile of ice cream, soda pop, Oreos, or Doritos hiding out.  Then organize what is left so that you can glance into the fridge/pantry & know exactly what  you have.  It will make it so much easier when you are putting together your grocery list or just looking for a quick snack!!jaw_20130918-IMG_5195 Continue reading 101 DFN… 5 Ways to Stay Sane in the Kitchen

Welcome to the halfway point of Phase 1!

You should now have your overall goal for the challenge set.  Your Phase 2 and 3 goals should be pretty well lined out as well, if they are not complete already.  If you are just getting started, or have been procrastinating- no worries!  It can be tough to build up the inertia, but once you do, you won’t want to stop!  Again, here’s a link to a well written article on goal setting, and the goal-setting worksheet that we are using from SparkPeople.  If you’d like to make an account and join our team there, it is one more way to stay motivated and track your progress.
